Whelp, hard to believe this time is here. I’m now 33 weeks with Baby Smith #3. I did self-portraits with both of our other babies (here’s me with Oscar, and me with Charlie) and wanted to be sure I captured this same time with Baby3. People keep asking us if we know what we’re having, but we’ve decided to wait this time until D-day. It’s been fun – both Oscar and Charlie believe that it’s going to be a girl, and have really grown attached to that idea, so that should be fun if we have a boy. 😉 Our due date is Dec. 4, but I feel like baby may arrive sooner than that. I’ve negotiated with baby to sit tight until after our last scheduled shoot in mid-November, then s/he can come whenever. (I like to believe I have that sort of control…)
It’s been a while since I’ve shared much about us and our family, so I figured I’d share Oscar’s latest achievement. He completed his first round of extra curricular activity! YAY!We signed him up for 8-weeks of soccer, and the first half was a bit rough. Oscar was definitely intimidated being surrounded by soooo many kids (40+ kids for just u6 soccer) and new faces and would usually end up in a pile of tears. Brandon helped out as a volunteer coach to help him get involved in meeting new kids, and that helped soooo much. Oscar ended up having a great end of the season, running and goofing off with the other kids – and to be honest, Brandon’s soccer skills improved quite a bit, too. 😉 Oscar was so proud of himself – and getting a shiny trophy made all the tears worth it. (He slept with it for many nights after the end of the season….see a bit further down in my collage of iPhone photos).
Over the past few months, Charlie has taken to potty-training incredibly well – especially comparing her to Oscar who did not. So at least we’ll have a few more weeks or not having to buy diapers before Baby3 arrives! She’s also really developing her own quirky and sweet personality that is just so awesome to see. There have been a few moments of sassiness and defiance with her, but overall, she’s incredibly sweet and good-natured.
Oscar also just celebrated his 5th birthday. (REALLY!? How did that happen?!) We had a small gathering of family to celebrate with pizza and blueberry pie. But to be honest, I think the highlight for him was getting his trophy over the toys and other goodies. Ha!
I successfully failed (ha!) at being a photog mom the past 6 months or so, and captured many of our family moments on my iPhone as opposed to our big camera (and honestly, not even that many even with the iPhone. Ugh.) Anyway, I’m so grateful for this beautiful, hectic, and fun time in our lives. Brandon is simply the best partner to handle me and all my crazy and I’m forever grateful to have him in my life. 😉
