Hard to believe this all happened 3 months ago. It’s been a sweet and somewhat hectic 3 months (I’ll explain more in another blog post) – but by far the best thing was welcoming sweet Benjamin Scott into our family. He arrived on November 27, 2016 at 7:16pm weighing 8lbs, 1oz and measuring 20in long.
It was a fairly uneventful labor and delivery – he took his sweet time getting here (I kinda figured he’d be out in no time considering this wasn’t my first rodeo…). We checked into the hospital that morning at 7am, started pitocin and had my epidural by 11am, and everyone was thinking we’d have a baby by lunch time. Whelp, not so much. My contractions were a bit irregular and dilation seemed to slow at around 5-6. Soooo, after trying a few different things, we ended up sitting me as upright as possible to, as my nurses said, labor down (I didn’t do this with Oscar & Charlie, so this was new to me). That really got things rolling, and we welcomed our baby boy at 7:16pm after only having to push 3 times. All in all, we had a great experience. And since I was one of those patients that delivered my baby at shift change, I had a team of, like, 9 nurses in the room rooting for me and cheering me on. I was a bit too foggy/distracted to really pay attention to everyone around me, but Brandon said I kept asking how everyone else was doing and thanking them for being there. Ha! Good times.
I’m a bit slow in getting his newborn photos done. I was much faster at posting Oscar & Charlie’s newborn photos – but this time around I have really tried to just truly be on maternity leave. You know, and not feel guilty for taking a nap during nap time. Or reading books. Or taking the time to snuggle our little babe. Or watching the older kiddos sweetly hold his hand in between showering him with kisses. This is likely our last time bringing home a baby, so I just wanted to savor as much of it as possible.
